Hi, I’m Mikayla.
After nearly a decade working as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist at large tech companies, I quit my job to pursue my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I specialize in Somatic Psychotherapy, but each session will look different depending on a client's unique needs. I offer virtual and in-person sessions for individuals and couples at The Marina Counseling Center in San Francisco.
I’m currently completing my graduate degree and working toward licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California.
How I Work
In therapy you have an opportunity to become more familiar with yourself. The parts you’re proud to share, afraid to share, or secretly wish to share. It’s all welcome. I’ll listen carefully and deeply, and offer reflections and suggestions where appropriate. And I’ll help create a space where you can gently untangle what’s knotted inside, letting what no longer fits fall away so you can live more freely.
In Somatic therapy, we expand beyond the traditional focus on our thoughts and emotions and notice the subtle cues from your body— cues like tension, breath, and posture—that can reveal deeper patterns. Our sessions will feel much like traditional talk therapy but with an added awareness of how your nervous system responds, allowing you to imagine new possibilities for how you want to experience life and connect with others.
Humans are wired for connection. From an early age, we adapt to stay safe—masking, shrinking, overachieving, or numbing. These aren’t flaws; they’re survival strategies. But over time, they can turn into self-doubt, control issues, people-pleasing, fear of intimacy, or emotional exhaustion.
Therapy helps loosen the grip of these patterns, creating space for freedom and possibility. So you can speak without hesitation, rest without shame, and trust yourself without second-guessing.
I’m here to listen, but I’m also here to help you make real change in your life. I’ll look for opportunities to gently challenge the stories that keep you stuck and help you hold yourself accountable to the life and relationships you want.
Please reach out if you’d like to explore whether working together feels like a fit.
